| Radio Communications : Total Communication System
(TCS)
|
| |
|
TCS is a radio communications network which can replace the need
for Pagers, Cell phones or Private Mobile Radio in one simple handportable
or vehicle unit.
As a user, you do not need to purchase expensive base stations
or other infrastructure, simply opt to buy the low cost handportable
or mobile radio, or even just rent - requiring no major capital
outlay.
The network provides high quality wide area coverage of voice,
paging and telephone interconnection so you can be in touch with
your colleagues at all times.

| |
| Key Benefits |
 |
Features include Radio-Radio voice
calls with your own personal 3 digit number. |
 |
Caller identification, the number
of the person calling you appears on your radio. |
 |
Call stacking so you never miss
a call even when away from the radio. |
 |
Telephone patch with up to 99 short-code
memories and free form dialling. You can also call any radio
from any BT phone. |
 |
Very simple to use and quicker than
a telephone (typical call set up time less than 3 seconds). |
 |
No annoying call dropouts or interference
provided you are in coverage range. |
 |
No mobile-mobile call charges or
hidden costs - just one fixed amount per month covers everything.

 |
| |
| Predictable Low Costs |
|
Every month you get a bill for a single fixed amount per mobile.
This covers all your mobile to mobile calls which will probably
be the majority. There is no limit to the number of calls, but to
control airtime "hoggers" we restrict the call time to one and a
quarter minutes per call. This means you know exactly how much you
are going to spend each month - no one can abuse the system.
Mobile to telephone calls will be charged at the tariff rates published
from time to time and can be controlled by the user. (e.g. certain
mobiles may have no access to phone calls, some may have access
to shortcode numbers only). Remember the call time is limited, so
calls tend to be brief and to the point, so costing less than typical
mobile phone calls. The charges are generally less than cellular.
Phone to mobile calls are paid by the caller at normal telephone
subscriber rates.
|
| |
| Fast Call Set-up - No Missed Calls |
| Typical call set up time is less than 3 seconds for
a free radio channel. The call stack ensures no call is missed even
if you are away from your mobile. |
| |
| Communication Between Different User Groups |
| Different user groups (eg two different Local Authorities
or Emergency services) can talk to each other where required, but
each user only pays for the service they use. This saves having to
install a dedicated radio system with all the limitations of PMR channels
and solves the political problem of who pays for it. |

Radio
to Radio voice calls are simplicity itself. Simply dial
in the 3-digit number for the mobile or handportable radio you
wish to call and press the "send" button. You will hear an acknowledgement
tone from the called radio, which will beep and display your
(i.e. the callers') number. A conversation may now commence.
You never miss a call even if you are away from your radio because
the callers number appears on a "call stack' displayed on the
radio. Up to 9 numbers can be received and called back when
you return. |
 |
Radio
to Telephone voice calls are just as simple. Set the
selector to "Phone", dial in the 2-digit shortcode for the telephone
number required (e.g. "01" for your office, "02" for a mobile
phone) and press "send". You hear a series of beeps as the system
dials out, then the familiar ringing tone until it is answered.
For numbers which are not pre-stored, dial "00" then press "send".
The familiar dialling tone will be heard, allowing you to dial
the number you require using a keypad fitted to the radio. |
 |
Telephone
to Radio voice calls are extremely useful, people outside
the network can call any mobile by dialling the system number
(a normal telephone line) then dialling the 3-digit number of
the radio. The radio beeps and "phone" appears on the display.
A simplex conversation can now take place, the same as a radio
to radio call. PAGING calls are the same as radio to radio calls
or telephone to radio calls, except you can speak to the caller
