All mains powered equipment is reliant on the mains being available
(which most people take for granted). However for critical applications
where loss of power even momentarily can be disastrous. Tascom are
experienced in providing battery backed power supplies and have
extended this expertise to include UPSs. Most UPSs for computer
applications are designed to hold up the computer system just long
enough for the system to be shut down in a sensible fashion. They
can however also be used to hold up mains powered systems for longer
periods with the appropriate rating. The hold-up time available
depends on the capacity of the UPS, load, temperature andbattery
condition etc. If this time is critical, some careful thought needs
to go into selecting the correct UPS.
Tascom supply a range of quality Uninterruptible Power Supplies
from the small 300VA unit, which will keep a typical small computer
running for about 10 to 15 minutes, to the 5kVA unit that will keep
a typical small computer running for about 3 hours or so depending
on conditions. Larger systems are also available, however we prefer
to understand your requirements more fully before suggesting a suitable
system. The UPS also acts as a power conditioning unit, protecting
the connected equipment from power surges spikes and brown-outs.
